   Join us for the party of a lifetime at the world famous Mardi Gras of New Orleans, Louisiana. A must-see spectacle for music lovers and anyone who enjoys an event to be remembered, the "Big Easy" showcases an unforgettable carnival celebration featuring festive floats, dazzling dancers, the best marching bands in the country, and an exciting blend of other colorful, crowd-pleasing performers parading down the streets of New Orleans.    The cost for this rally is $1,950 (2 people - 1 rig), $1,650 (1 person - 1 rig), and $950 each additional person. Day 1:
  • Orientation

Day 2:
  • Continental Breakfast
  • Thor Parade
  We leave our campground and travel by tour bus to Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans. Tote you camp chairs to set up along the route. Enjoy mingling with the locals as you await the arrival of the Thor parade. You’ll be mesmerized by the pageantry and excitement of your first Mardi Gras parade. After the parade, with lots of beads and colorful memories of your first night in the Big Easy, you’ll enjoy the ride back to your campsite.


Day 3:

  • Jazz Brunch at Court of Two Sisters

  • Babylon, Chaos and Muses Parades
  This morning we travel by motorcoach to the French Quarter where we explore the historic district on an escorted walking tour. Learn why New Orleans is one of America’s most interesting cities. See the Napoleon House, the slave exchange and the homes of General Beauregard and the Ursuline nuns. Learn about the infamous Octoroon-Quadroon Ballroom, St. Anthony’s dueling grounds, Andrew Jackson, the haunted house and much more. See the cornstalk fence, Pirate’s Alley and quaint courtyards. Admire St. Louis Cathedral and tour Jackson Square, Shop in the French Market for a feather mask to wear on Mardi Gras day.

  We end our stroll though history at the Court of Two Sisters restaurant where we enjoy live Dixieland Jazz music as we dine. Savor a delicious Jazz Brunch in one of the most elegant Creole restaurants in New Orleans. Admire the lush courtyard patio, which is the largest in the entire French Quarter. Enjoy a sumptuous buffet boasting a wide selection of hot and cold dishes. Enjoy made-to-order omelets, Eggs Benedict, shrimp and oyster pasta with a creamy Alfredo sauce, grits, grillades or eggplant casserole. Try some jambalaya, chicken and andouille gumbo, fresh fish, Duck a l’Orange and Shrimp Creole. Enjoy world famous cuisine and the elegance of the Vieux Carre at Dixieland Jazz brunch.

  After a wonderful dining experience, we board our motorcoach and travel to Mardi Gras World. Go behind-the-scenes and see where the Mardi Gras is created. Laugh as you and your friends have a chance to don Mardi Gras costumes. Walk with your tour guide among the huge floats that are built each year for the world famous Mardi Gras. See some mega-floats that cost over $1 million to construct. View a fascinating film about Mardi Gras that makes you feel a part of the celebration. Sample traditional King Cake and enjoy a cup of coffee during your visit to Mardi Gras World.   Next, we travel to uptown New Orleans where we join the locals on elegant St. Charles Avenue under the majestic oak trees that line the city’s most graceful thoroughfare. Place your folding bag chair along the route or just join the crowd on the street to enjoy the parades of Babylon, Chaos and Muses. After viewing the parades, board your tour bus for the return ride to your campsite.


Day 4:

  • Steamboat Natchez Cruise and Lunch
  • Krewe of Hermes street parade
  This morning, we board our motorcoach and travel to the French Quarter for a cruise on the Steamboat Natchez. Feel the excitement build as you prepare to board the authentic stern wheel steamer for your cruise on the mighty Mississippi. You’ll enjoy live Dixieland jazz music and feel the romance and enchantment of the world famous Mississippi River. Listen to your guide’s narration about the River, the port, the Battle of New Orleans and the ships in the harbor. Enjoy a tasty lunch and an exciting cruise on Old Man River.

  After your cruise, we stroll through the French Quarter and feel the excitement build as Mardi Gras day approaches and the crowds begin to swell. You’re welcome to purchase cocktails-to-go and carry those refreshments with you as you enjoy another great afternoon in the City That Care Forgot. The men who will ride in the Hermes parade on Friday night will be marching through the French Quarter in a street parade on Friday afternoon. You’ll experience the Mardi Gras frenzy and catch lots and lots of beads in the Quarter.


Day 5:

  • Cooking Class and Lunch
  • National World War II Museum
  • Endymion Parade at Cajun Restaurant
  We’re ready for another great day in New Orleans. We board our motorcoach and travel to the French Quarter where we attend an entertaining cooking class. You’ll get a real taste of New Orleans in this Louisiana kitchen where fun is the primary ingredient. Experience the fun, food and folklore of New Orleans as your chef teaches you the basics of Louisiana Cooking in a way you’ll never forget. Watch your expert Cajun/Creole chef prepare traditional New Orleans dishes such as Gumbo, Jambalaya and Pralines (recipes provided). Afterwards, enjoy the lunch that your chef has prepared.

  After lunch, we travel to the state-of-the-art National World War II Museum (D-Day). There you’ll storm the beaches of Normandy; hear the voices of heroes; fly an Allied glider into France; join Rosie on the production line; crack secret German codes; view an LCVP Higgins Boat; and fight your way through hedgerow country. Experience the horror of Pearl Harbor and learn about war in the Pacific. Celebrate the American spirit, teamwork, optimism, courage and sacrifice of the men and women who won World War II.

  We stroll a few blocks to St. Charles Avenue where we have a place reserved for us at a local Cajun restaurant. When your feet get to tappin make your way to the dance floor and learn to do Cajun dancing to the sounds of a live Cajun band. Enjoy unlimited food and liquor throughout the evening. You’ll have a bird’s eye view of Endymion, the granddaddy of the Super Krewe parades, from the restaurant’s reviewing stand.


Day 6:

  • Comprehensive City Tour
  • Okeanos, Thoth, Mid-City parades
  We board our tour bus and head to New Orleans. Today, we enjoy a grand, Comprehensive City Tour. Travel down world famous Mardi Gras Canal Street. Skirt the boundaries of the French Quarter and listen to the history of the early city. Pass Jackson Square, the French Market and Congo Square. See Basin Street and hear about Storyville, the infamous red light district of New Orleans where Dixieland Jazz got its start. Travel down Bayou St. John, where original plantation homes remain today. Walk with your guide through one of New Orleans’ famous cemeteries and hear the story of our unique above ground burial. Marvel as you drive under magnificent, 100 year old oak trees in City Park, one of the country’s largest municipally owned parks. Drive along Lake Pontchartrain, the fourth largest lake in the United States, and hear about how New Orleans is built below sea level. Ride through the City of the Dead and see a magnificent tomb that cost $83,000 at the time of its completion. Travel through the University section, uptown New Orleans and down St. Charles Avenue, the avenue of streetcars, millionaires and churches. See millionaires row, a replica of Tara from Gone with the Wind, and many other magnificent mansions on the Avenue. Drive past the Garden District and see fabulous mansions that grace the finest residential section of the city. See the city’s modern skyline and learn about the Louisiana Superdome Stadium. Learn that there’s much more to New Orleans than Mardi Gras with a narrated tour.

  Our City Tour ends near the parade route. We stroll to our reserved reviewing stand where we enjoy the afternoon parades of Okeanos, Thoth and Mid-City. Food and drinks are on your own and available in close proximity to our reviewing stand.


Day 7:

  • Plantation Tour and Lunch
  Today, relax and enjoy sightseeing as you are whisked from New Orleans to the great River Road where many of yesterday’s plantation treasures remain today. Visit Laura Plantation, an 1805 Creole plantation, where the west-African folktales of Br’er Rabbit were written. You’ll feel transported back in time to the charmed and tragic lives of the plantation’s Creole men, women, slaves and children as you tour the historic home and walk the plantation grounds. Next, we travel past rich sugar cane fields to Oak Alley Plantation. Before touring the mansion, we enjoy a tasty Cajun luncheon buffet in an open-air pavilion on the plantation grounds. After lunch, we take a guided tour through Oak Alley, a traditional Greek revival, antebellum home built in 1837. You’ll be dazzled by the plantation’s giant oak trees, believed to be almost 300 years old. With a new appreciation of the grandeur and beauty of the antebellum South, you’ll enjoy the ride back to the city.


Day 8:

  • Lunch on your own
  • Rex Parade
  • Party in the French Quarter
  This morning we really feel the carnival spirit as we don our Mardi Gras masks and board our bus to the Mardi Gras. Our bus takes us to Harrah’s Casino which will be our base of operation for the day. You may enjoy spending time gambling in Harrah’s lavish casino. If you choose, enjoy Harrah’s sumptuous buffet on your own. Rex, the King of Carnival parades down Canal Street, near Harrah’s. You may prefer to take a walk on the wild side and venture into the French Quarter. Explore on your own or stay with the group and stroll with your guide/escort down Bourbon Street. Sip cocktails in a cozy bar, see the gay costume contest, people watch, dance in the streets or just party hearty in the Big Easy. But remember, just like Cinderella, you have a coach to catch. We depart from Harrah’s at 4 PM. Remembering the sights and sounds of the gala Mardi Gras, we enjoy the ride back to our campsite.
